  • News
    • Tiger Band Members to Play for Pride of Acadiana
      • Two senior members of the Holy Cross Tiger Band auditioned and will be playing for the Pride of Acadiana Marching Band at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette this fall. Cade Cheramie and Sean Murphy, who are both flute players, received letters with scholarship offers from the university. Congratulations to both of these young men for continuing their love of music as they graduate and attend college

  • Seniors are Reminded of Their Younger Days
    • As our seniors prepared for their senior luncheon and prom last month, they received a little reminder from the past. For five of her seven years here, Mrs. Clark has had freshmen and sophomore boys in English II and English II-Honors write a letter to their future selves. These letters are read by no one, and they are sealed and locked away until three-to-four years later when she hands them back out to the now seniors.

Mrs. Clark says, “This is one of my favorite times of the year (and a little bittersweet) as I can remember the boys they once were as I’m handing this letter to a now grown young man. I love watching the boys get so excited over something they thought I had forgotten about! Some laugh at their younger, less mature version; some are moved by events they had chosen to discuss in their letter, but had not revisited in years. Career goals, college choices, music, and girlfriends have changed over the years, but the brotherhood that these students have created will last a lifetime.”

  • Holy Cross 5th and 6th Grade Track and Field Wins NOLA/Ivy League Championship
    • On Saturday April 29, the 5th and 6th grade track and field team won the NOLA/Ivy League Championship meet with 107 points, defeating second place Lusher Charter by a 21-point margin.  Holy Cross relied on its depth and talent to simply overwhelm the competition, winning five total events. In the 7th and 8th grade division, Holy Cross had only six athletes, but still placed very well in all events entered, including NOAL/Ivy League Champion Sebastian Williams in the 800m run.

  • Seniors Sign for Baseball at Loyola
    • Three Holy Cross seniors–Trace Messina, Mickey Toscano, and Cole Nalesnik–signed on to play baseball with Loyola University in New Orleans next year during a ceremony held in the Student Center on May 1. Congratulations to these young men as they continue their education and their love of baseball.
  • Coach Eric DesOrmeaux Named Louisiana Coach of the Year
    • Holy Cross wrestling coach Eric DesOrmeaux recently was named Louisiana’s Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
    • DesOrmeaux guided the Tigers to the Allstate Sugar Bowl LHSAA Division I state championship in February. Holy Cross defeated Catholic League rivals Brother Martin and Jesuit in dual meets during the regular season and held off their chief competitors again in the state tournament to earn the Tigers’ first wrestling state championship since 2013.

  • Senior Payne Espenan Chosen as STEM Premier Top 100
    • Congratulations to Holy Cross Senior Payne Espenan, who was chosen as a STEM Premier Top 100 student. STEM Premier is an online platform that assists students in designing a career pathway, educators in recruiting top talent to their schools, and employers in developing a stable, continuous talent pipeline. The platform allows students ages 13 and up to build personal profiles showcasing their skills and talents so that colleges, technical schools and companies can connect directly with students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
