  • Baseball update
    • April 16th HC beat St Aug 9 -2 (make up game from Sat)                                            18-13-1 wrapping the season
    • April 17 and 18th On Tues HC fell to John Curtis 7-2 and again on Wed 6-0
    • On Sat the 28th Holy Cross won Over Scotlandville 11-1 in the 1st round of Div 1 play-offs
  • National Honor Societies Induct New Members
    • Congratulations to our students who were recently inducted into the National Honor Society and the National Junior Honor Society at a ceremony held on April 18.
  • Holy Cross Chorus Students Earn Superior and Excellent Ratings
    • Congratulations to the members of Holy Cross’ Concordia Vocal Ensemble who represented Holy Cross at State Vocal Rally this past weekend.
    • Brian Fink, Logan Puissegur, and Ashton Stephens received Superior ratings for their solo performances. Stafford Agee received a rating of Excellent. Trey Nickens, Logan Puissegur, Justice Smith, and Ashton Stephens received a Superior rating for their ensemble performance.!

 Three Athletes Sign for College Pro”er will attend the University of New Orleans and signed with their Cross Country and Track and Field teams.

    • Blake Baldassaro will attend Louisiana State University and signed with their Cross Country and Track and Field teams.
    • Tyler Nunenmacher will attend Tusculum University in Greenville, Tennessee, and signed on to play Lacrosse with their NCAA Division II team.

  • Baseball update
    • April 9th HC beat Shaw 8 t0 4                                            17-11-1 prior to weekend
    • April 10th they beat Rummel 6 to 3
    • Fri 13th HC vs St Aug 10 to 0
    • Sat 14th HC vs St Aug WASH out
  • Three Juniors Selected for Patrick F. Taylor Foundation 18 in ’18 Competition
    • Three Holy Cross juniors have had their work selected for the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation 18 in ’18 Competition, which celebrates the New Orleans Tricentennial. The competition is open to current high school juniors and includes original essays or artwork about the student’s personal connection to New Orleans.
    • The works of Daniel Monaghan, Tarik Wilson, and Anthony Huete were chosen for consideration to the foundation for the competition. Winners will be announced by the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation on May 15. Good luck to our Tigers.
  • TCAC Basketball Finishes Season with “Lakers” Victory
    • In the basketball championship last week, the Lakers secured a four-point victory within the last two minutes of the game. The co-captains of the Lakers, Jared Jones and Ashton Brown, both scored more than 10 points for their team. Cavs player Jonathan Williams scored 10 points for his team, but it wasn’t enough to control the game. The boys are looking forward to next year when TCAC starts again!
  • Faculty & Staff Give to Community through Service
    • In the spirit of servant leadership, Holy Cross faculty and staff gave of their time on Holy Thursday to give back to the community through a day of service with several organizations.
      • One team of volunteers visited Magnolia Community Center, where they had an opportunity to tour the facility, learn about the programs they offer, and spend time visiting with clients and spreading cheer. Another team visited Vista Shores senior center, where they sang and decorated Easter eggs with the residents.
      • Two other teams visited the Salvation Army and Covenant House, where they did some cleaning and painting of their facilities. And one team spent their morning at Holy Cross School setting up recycling bins and doing some spring cleaning around campus.
      • The group started off the day with a prayer service and returned to campus after a day of volunteering to reflect on their experiences working with these organizations. It was truly a meaningful opportunity for our faculty and staff to give back and to be role models of servant leadership.

  • Baseball update
    • This passed Monday the 2nd HC dropped a game to Hahnville 3 to 2

  • Senior Prom
    • Your prom is next Saturday, April 14th at the St. Charles Lounge in the Superdome. See Coach Charb for ticket information. Also, if you plan to park in the dome, please be aware the dome does charge to park so bring cash. They do not accept credit cards. Also, the annual Tiger Fest follows immediately after the prom here at school in the Student Center. Shirts will be handed out next week when they come in.
  • Blood Drive
    • Attention all 16 year old students and over, all faculty and staff: Next Tuesday in conjunction with Tiger Pride Month, we will have our last blood drive of the year on Tuesday, April 10th. Student Council members will be coming around to take sign-ups. See Mr. Ferry for any questions you may have!
  • . Holy Cross School Announces New Leadership Team
    • Holy Cross School has announced a new organizational structure and leadership team for the 2018-2019 school year. This new structure will allow the school to align its academic programs and student services to assure continuity and progression throughout each young man’s journey at Holy Cross School.
      • Eric DesOrmeaux will serve as Chief School Officer and will oversee all academic areas, including primary, middle and high school grades. In this role, he will direct the school’s curriculum, discipline and teaching teams to ensure consistency in each of these areas throughout each grade level.
      • Teresa Billings will serve as Chief Mission Officer, with the primary role of ensuring the school’s mission is carried out through all student support programs. In this role, she will direct the counseling and guidance, enrollment, recruiting, student activities and campus ministry teams.
      • Brian Williams, CPA, joined Holy Cross School in January 2018 in the role of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer. He will oversee all financial operations, as well as the school’s campus operations and technology teams.
      • Monica Sanusi Gelé, CFRE, will serve as our Chief Advancement Officer, overseeing the school’s fundraising, special events, alumni relations and communications teams.
        • “We have an outstanding team of servant leaders who fully embrace the Holy Cross mission and will inspire our students, faculty and staff to live that mission every day. Please join me in congratulating our leadership team and supporting them in their new roles. We look forward to continuing the mission of educating the young men of Holy Cross School – Mind and Heart, Body and Soul,” said Sean Martin, headmaster.
      • Tiger Pride Month Kicks off with Pancakes and Pep Rally
        • Our National Honor Society and National Junior Honor Society are sponsoring Tiger Pride Month, a four-week celebration of students, faculty, staff and our community. The first week focused on “student appreciation” and included pancake breakfasts sponsored by the Tailgators Club, snowballs at lunch, and concluded with a Tiger Pride pep rally. Upcoming weeks will celebrate our faculty and staff and focus on giving back to the community.
        • State Champion Robotics and Soccer Teams Receive Legislative Proclamation
          • The Holy Cross State Champion Soccer and Robotics Teams traveled to Baton Rouge on Monday for a special recognition at the State Capitol. The students had the opportunity to meet with Representative Chris Hazel ’83 and were presented with legislative proclamations for each team. It was a great day to be a tiger!

  • Baseball update
    • This passed Tuesday evens things up after dropping a game last week to the Blue Jays winning the match 5 to 1
    • They continued their streak by tackling Shaw on Wed and defeating them 4 to 1
    • Sat against St. Charles Catholic _fell 3 to 5_
    • 13-9-1

 

  • Holy Cross Bowlers winning season ends
    • Congratulations to the Varsity Bowling Team on an impressive 14-2 Season.
  • Soccer Players, Coach Receive All-State Accolades
    • Holy Cross sophomore Chad Cadiere was named Division II Defensive MVP and senior Sebastian Aguilar was named Division II Offensive MVP by the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association. Coach Matt Millet was also named Coach of the Year, and juniors Thomas Dugal and Ethan Garvey and senior Ethan Jones were named to First Team All-State. Congratulations to all of our players and coaches on these outstanding achievements!
  • . Middle School Hosts Friday Night Game Night
    • Our middle school students enjoyed their very first game night this past Friday. More than 80 students participated, and the event was organized by senior “Big Brothers.” Students competed within their “houses” playing games such as crab ball, dodge ball, and fourth down. It was a great evening of games, bonding with classmates, and of course, pizza!
    • Tiger Band Receives Superior Ratings at District Ensemble
      • Last week our band participated in the District VI Large Ensemble Assessment, which included performances and sight reading in front of a team of judges. Our band received superior ratings across the board, which is the best possible score. The students worked very hard to make this possible and we are extremely proud of them. Congratulations!,
    • Twin Brothers Capture National Wrestling Honors
      • Congratulations to Holy Cross eighth graders and twin brothers Jacob and Evan Frost on their recent wrestling victories. Competing for the Bayou Elite Wrestling Club in the NHSCA National tournament, they both captured All-American honors from the National High School Coaches Association. Jacob Frost capped off the tournament with a Louisiana best 8-2 record with fifth in the country at 95 pounds, and Evan Frost finished 7-2, capturing seventh in the country at 90 pounds
    • Twelve Students Qualify for State Literary Rally
      • Congratulations to our students who participated in the District Literary Rally held last month at Nicholls State University. The following students placed in their subject areas and have qualified to compete at the State Rally at LSU on April 21.
        • Austin Wyman received a Superior rating in Original Oratory
        • James Sixkiller received a Superior rating in Extemporaneous Speaking
        • Shane Gross placed 2nd in Division II in Biology II
        • Joshua Plauche placed 1st in Division II in Calculus
        • Alex Tedesco placed 1st in Division II in Calculus II
        • Justin Schilleci placed 2nd in Division II in Chemistry
        • Jared Brodtmann placed 1st in Division II in Civics
        • Henry Herbert placed 3rd in Division II in English I
        • Alex Dang placed 1st in Division II in Environmental Science
        • Joshua Atkins placed 2nd in Division II in Spanish I
        • Blake Ziegler placed 1st in Division II in U.S. History
        • Ashton Castro placed 2nd in Division II in World Geography

 

  • Some announcements
    • Attention all juniors interested in running for student council: elections will take place right after the Easter break. Please stop by the student activities office to pick up a nomination packet. This year we are doing things differently and everyone running will be running for the top twelve spots instead of by position. Once the twelve have been chosen, a separate election will be held for the senior class president and student body president positions.
    • Attention juniors: anyone interested in auditioning for the current “voice of the Tigers” position, please see Mr. Ferry as soon as possible. Next year’s morning PA announcement voice and video announcement host will be selected through an audition process based on personality, creativity, dependability and much more. And we would love to have you on our show as well.

  • Holy Cross Crawfish Boil Presented by the Men’s Club 9 AM – 4 PM (Holy Cross School )
    • Live music performed by the Holy Cross Student Jazz band and, Longitude 90 and the Blue Krewe
    • Spacewalks and games for children and adults
    • A booth sponsored by the Holy Cross Cheerleaders selling desserts
    • A booth sponsored by the Holy Cross Lady Tiger providing adult beverages (JELLO SHOTS)
    • A cooking team who competes in the “Hogs for the Cause” event with proceeds being donated to the fight against pediatric brain cancer
    • An auction tent with items being raffled off or presented for silent auction
    • A collection of show cars presented by the Mustang Mafia, a local organization who represents at several local car shows and community events with members who are recent grads from Holy Cross
    • Representation of “TIGER TALK” presented by Brett and Blade Schneider, a live podcast with interviews and announcements delivered from the Crawfish Boil
    • And most of all, plenty of beer, jambalaya and hot boiled crawfish presented by the Holy Cross Men’s Club.
