Holy Cross Basketball
The varsity basketball team will be playing ________________ of Baton Rouge Mardi Gras night in the first game of the playoffs.

Holy Cross Band performed in Nemesis and Thoth parades
The HC band looked amazing as they Marched in Fridays Nemesis and Saturdays Thoth Parades in New Orleans. Take a look at the website for pictures of them on St. Charles Ave. and here’s a sound bite of them getting the crowd into it.
Students Take Home Awards in Science and Engineering Fair
Congratulations to our students who placed in the Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair that was held last week at the University of New Orleans.

Cheerleading Tryouts Scheduled for March 13-14
Tryouts for the Holy Cross Cheerleading Team will take place March 13-14, 2017, from 4-7 p.m. at the Holy Cross Student Center. Girls attending all-girls Catholic high schools are eligible and must register online to participate in tryouts.

Cole Clement Receives Appointment to United States Merchant Marine Academy
Congratulations to Holy Cross senior Cole Clement for his recent Appointment to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, located in Kings Point, New York. He received his nomination from Congressman Cedric Richmond,. Only four seats are available for Louisiana’s Congressional distribution to the Academy, and Cole has earned the privilege of this prestigious appointment.
Senior Ford Luscy Named National Merit Finalist
Holy Cross senior Ford Luscy, who has been named a National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Ford is captain of the Holy Cross Swim Team and is also a member of the varsity Soccer Team. He is a Peer Minister and enjoys mentoring his younger Holy Cross brothers through retreats and peer ministry activities.

Congratulations to the varsity soccer team for a great season. Even though they lost to Alexandria 3-2 we are very proud of the season successes they were able to accomplish.
Ethan Jones Named New Orleans Advocate’s Prep Soccer Player of the Week
Jones had a pair of assists in the Tigers’ second-round playoff victory over Riverdale. “He’s a junior and a leader on our team,” coach Matt Millet said. “He’s started and played in almost every minute of every game. He leads us in assists and takes all our set pieces to get the ball into the middle.”

Holy Cross School held a collection drive on Friday, Feb. 17, during homeroom to assist those affected by last week’s tornado. Donations collected went to current Holy Cross families in need, and then to the greater New Orleans community. Together as one Holy Cross family, we make a difference! Thank you for your contributions.
Holy Cross Center Stage Damn Yankees Musical
Holy Cross Center Stage presented the musical Damn Yankees this past weekend in the Watson Family Theater. Under the direction of theater director Maria Baisier, It was a great performance.

Congratulations to the entire HC wrestling team for taking home the state title. The trophy is coming back to Paris Avenue. Joey Foret and Jake Rando won individual state titles and Coach DesOrmeaux becomes the first coach in state history to lead teams to championships in Division I, II, and III. The Tigers now own 28 state team titles and boast a national record 240 individual champs.Your entire HC family could not be more proud of you.
Tiger soccer took down Riverdale with a score of 5-0 last week moving them into the quarter finals. They will play Tues the 14th at Pan Am stadium taking on district rival Lakeshore at 6pm. It’s a white out game so wear your HC white and get out and support the soccer team.
Holy Cross Center Stage will present the musical Damn Yankees Feb. 16-20 in the Watson Family Theater. Under the direction of theater director Maria Baisier, students have been hard at work practicing and preparing for the spring production.

This past weekend, the Holy Cross School Latin program participated in the South Louisiana Regional Certamen tournament held at St. Mary’s Dominican High School.
In Intermediate Latin, the team of Matthew Thiaville, Zac Fuller, and Dayne Reese took home first place. In Advanced Latin, the team of Jake Latino, Toran Langford, Mason Wallace, and Ben Young finished in second place, by one question.
Congratulations to these outstanding Latin students!
It was an epic battle against the Blue Jays, but our Tigers took home the district championship. The final team score was 34-18. The arena packed with gold everywhere and a full student section. Thanks to the team and all the fans.
Holy Cross Participates in Catholic Schools Arts & Music Festival
Holy Cross wowed the crowd at the Catholic Schools Arts and Music Festival held this week at Lakeside Mall in honor of Catholic Schools Week. Members of our seventh grade Tiger Chorus, Holy Cross Men’s Chorus, and Honors Vocal Ensemble performed, and our art department displayed the work of our talented art students.

Congratulations to our varsity basketball team for their huge district win over Jesuit by a score of 43 to 41 this week. Get out there and support those Tigers as we head into playoffs.
