Middle Schoolers Learn about Guatemala Exchange Program and Mission Trip
Holy Cross students in grades 5-7 attended a presentation to learn about opportunities to host an exchange student and participate in a mission trip.
Nicole Fangue, a former teacher at Holy Cross, spoke to the students as a representative of BONDING, which is a Catholic program whose mission is to unite families, students, schools and communities in a common faith to enrich each one involved. This is accomplished by establishing friendship bonds and showing respect for values. The program serves students ages 10-15 and their families.
Our middle schoolers received information about hosting exchange students from Guatemala. Fangue also shared her experience doing summer mission work in Guatemala.
For more information on how to participate in the exchange program, please see the Bonding website, catholicbonding.org.
Seventh Graders Kick off the Year with Swimming Social
As part of their “Continuing the Journey” program, our seventh grade class kicked off the year with a student/teacher/parent social.
Throughout the year, seventh graders have the opportunity to bond with their brothers during their last year of middle school as they prepare to “Continue the Journey” into high school at Holy Cross.
Last Friday they kicked off the year with a student/teacher/parent social held at Lakeside Country Club.
The students got to swim, play tennis and other games, and bond with one another and their teachers. Parents were invited to join them at the end as well. We’re looking forward to a great year with many more “Continuing the Journey” activities to come!

Brothers in Formation
Holy Cross has reinvented its Big Brother “Boys to Men” program, pairing fifth graders, eighth graders and seniors into family units that will spend time together in formation throughout the year.
The brothers had their first interaction during the opening school Mass, where they all got to sit together during Mass. Today, they spent their formation period interacting, playing games and getting to know each other. The school plans to host more of these events throughout the year and will also incorporate our younger Tigers from the Elysian Fields campus.

Holy Cross Launched New Student Experience Program
Our newest Tigers started off their New Student Experience getting their laptops set up and ready for the start of school.
Holy Cross School launched the “New Student Experience” program this summer for new students in grades 5-12, including those who are entering middle school from the Holy Cross primary campus.
The program includes a campus orientation, where students are prepared for the upcoming year and learn about getting around campus and rules and procedures, and also find out about academic and extracurricular opportunities at Holy Cross School.
We are excited to welcome our newest Tigers and get them oriented to everything Holy Cross, and we look forward to a great school year!
All students new and old attend orientation last week to get the last of their items squared away for the new school year
We want to give a big shout out to: The Men’s Club and The Lady tigers
The only people that shouldn’t be joining these amazing clubs are the students. They bring together supports of all ages from friends and relations of all student grades.
Five Seniors Participate in Holy Cross Immersion Service-Learning Trip
Five Holy Cross seniors had the opportunity to experience what they describe as a life-changing week serving in marginalized communities this summer.
Holy Cross Immersion service-learning trip, led by our Campus Minister, Adrian Jackson and Director of Counseling, Dr. Karen duPlantier, was held at Notre Dame High School, in Sherman Oaks, California, in June 5. Twenty-four rising seniors from five Holy Cross Schools participated: The theme of the Immersion was “Being Family – It’s YOUR love that brings me home.”
Good luck to all the students preparing for your exams. Tiger Talk is doing the same and with it being a study intense week we thought we would reward everyone with a year end recap show next week.
We will touch on highlights for the 2017-18 school year…. tell a few jokes (bad) and have some fun (good) If you would like to be part of the show drop us a line via email Facebook or whatever and we will get you on. (feel free to send us an audio clip)
